The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staffing that are crucial to the nation’s COVID-19 response.The IT Customer Engineer will perform highly specialized and complex information systems COVID-19 analysis and design tasks, and provide technical leadership in IT strategic planning, business automation planning, business process improvement and application development. The Customer Engineer will also act as a lead or technical consultant for complex systems development projects and may supervise lower-level Information Systems Analysts and other technical staff.Responsibilities
  • Administer data collection systems and serve as technical expert for Public Health including all instances of the systems, provisioning of user access, maintenance of system configurations and supporting integrations with other third-party products.
  • Serve as the second tier of support for Public Health workforce members for all aspects of the REDCap service including troubleshooting of issues during normal business hours and on-call, when needed, to resolve user issues and escalating to REDCap support for assistance.
  • Provide onboarding support to Public Health users working to evaluate new use cases, adding new user groups and deploying new instances, as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local security requirements, including Los Angeles County IT security requirements.
  • Develop and provide training for various audiences such as: technical training and workshops to investigators, study designers/managers in the development of data entry screens, consistency checks, CRFs and advanced feature sets (including scripting branching logic and exports to statistical packages).
  • Establish and maintain system user groups to facilitate sharing of best practices among Public Health users, establish usage guidelines and survey standards, and encourage safe data handling practices.
  • Complies with all required Public Health trainings.
  • Accepts responsibility for other duties as assigned.
  • Duties will include approximately 60% software application support and 40% technical project management activities.
Education
  • Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, and four (4) years of progressively more responsible, full-time, paid experience in a centralized Information Technology organization performing information systems analysis and design for complex systems.
  • or- Two (2) years of experience, within the last three years at the level of the Los Angeles County class of Senior Information Systems Analyst.
  • or - Five (5) years of progressively responsible, full-time, paid experience in a centralized Information Technology organization performing information systems analysis and design for complex systems
Qualifications
  • Software support experience
  • Strong technical skills including knowledge of software development processes
  • Ability to understand application functions and technical documentation required
  • A valid California Class C Driver’s License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions
  • Reliable Wi-fi/internet access
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of an EDC system such as REDCap, Velos, StudyTrax, Oracle Clinical or PhaseForward
  • Experience with PHP scripting language or similar scripting/programming language, SQL and performing basic administration and monitoring in a Linux or Windows Server environment
  • Windows-based laptop or desktop device,with a speaker and mic
