The CDC Foundation is working with CDC, state and local authorities to provide surge staffing resources that are crucial to the nation’s COVID-19 response. For this position, the CDC Foundation seeks candidates who are experienced public health professionals to provide support to a state or local health department in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
This position requires the operation of a motor vehicle as a component of the job responsibilities and duties. In adherence with CDC Foundation’s Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy (Policy), offers for employment for this position require the Applicant to provide authorization to the CDC Foundation to conduct a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review both pre-employment and also annually post-employment while in this position. Additionally, if an offer of employment is accepted, employees in these positions must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence, self-report motor vehicle violations/convictions, and provide proof of acceptable insurance coverage with mandatory minimum coverages as set forth within the Driver Safety Motor Vehicle policy. All offers of employment and continued employment for this position are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications of this Policy.Responsibilities
  • Conduct an initial assessment of the site outbreak and provide guidance (via site visit or phone) following B-73 and protocols provided by Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LAC DPH).
  • Collect the investigation count information following scripts, policies and procedures provided by Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LAC DPH).
  • Inquire about facility deaths both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 deaths.
  • Work with the Data Monitor and facility/site representative to compile a complete line list of all cases and contacts.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with the Infection Control Practitioner (IP), Director of Nursing (DON), Administrative Director or Facility Designee at the assigned COVID-19 Outbreak (OB) facility (e.g.: Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Long -Term Care Facilities (LTCF), Assisted Living Facilities (ALF), Shelters, Homeless Encampments, Schools, Worksite, or other).
  • Provide facility/site with initial recommendations based on setting and OB type.
  • Address any concerns or answer any questions facility may have regarding outbreak.
  • Provide verbal explanation and written copy of the Health Officer Order (HOO) and assess the need for mass testing assistance.
  • Monitor and provide continued guidance regarding infection control methods.
  • Consult with Community and Field Services Physician (CFS Physician) and Acute Communicable Disease Control (ACDC) COVID-19 Team Members.
  • Collaborate with Health Facilities Inspection Division (HFID) and other DPH Divisions such as Environmental Health, regarding investigation counts (if applicable).
  • Document activities in the Integrated Reporting Investigation and Surveillance System (IRIS).
  • Maintain a professional, positive attitude and work ethic.
  • Apply sound critical thinking and judgement skills.
  • Possess proficiency with computers and software programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Public Health, Nursing or related degree from an accredited university plus three (3) years of full-time experience is strongly encouraged.
  • Thorough knowledge of public health principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret disease data from a wide variety of data sources.
  • Ability to initiate, conduct, and report on disease control and epidemiological studies and research.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance to the health care and public health communities.
