The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and local authorities to provide surge staffing that are crucial to the nation’s COVID-19 response including support for implementation of COVID-19 vaccine. This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by enhancing preparedness and response for emerging public health threats through serving as the emergency response communication and coordination hub; providing leadership and vision through planning and guidance; effective management and oversight of emergency preparedness funds; and providing good customer service.The incumbent will serve in the Medical Health Coordination Center’s (MHCC) Planning/Intelligence section under the direction of the MHCC Director, and liaise with various CDPH programs, and Federal, State, and local agencies involved in Public Health and Medical Response. The Planning/Intelligence Section Coordinator (PSC) will oversee the duties of all staff in the Planning and Intelligence Section. The PSC will have various responsibilities that will change according to the needs of the operation and may be required to work outside core business hours.Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of data and information related to the incident through various reports to be shared with response personnel, executive staff, and external agencies.
  • Overseeing the Planning/Intelligence Section daily operations and delegating tasks.
  • Reporting relevant information pertaining to the incident to the MHCC Director.
  • Coordinating efforts with the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services for shared reports, such as the State Situation Report and Incident Action Plan.
  • Coordinating with CDPH Centers and Programs for various assignments.
  • Developing procedures for Planning/Intelligence staff for new assignments.
  • Hosting the MHCC Operational Briefing and other various conference calls and controlling the flow of meetings.
  • Directing inquires to the appropriate subject matter experts.
  • Verifying and approving Planning/Intelligence staff time sheets.
Education
  • High school diploma required.
  • Preferred Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in related field.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of prior professional experience
  • Experience managing and coordinating a response, crisis, disaster and/or emergency management program?
  • ?Data collection and analysis skills
  • Demonstrated comfort and fluency in quantitative/qualitative analysis
  • Knowledge of research design and implementation
  • Technical skills to write reports, prepare briefings, and coherently present results
  • Project management, teamwork, and communication skills
