The CDC Foundation is working with CDC and state and localauthorities to provide surge staffing that is crucial to the nation’s COVID-19 response including support for implementation of Covid-19 vaccine. We are seeking candidates for theProject Managerrole.The project manager functions within an incident command structure (ICS) and provides support to manage the daily data processes, monitor and report process improvement, and implement best practices. The position interacts with other COVID-19 response teams performing essential case reporting and operational functions. The position will interact with multiple internal and external partners involved with the COVID-19 pandemic response including California Reportable Disease Information Exchange (CalREDIE), California COVID Testing Task Force (TTF), California COVID-19 Reporting System (CCRS), California Connected (CalCONNECT), the Viral and Rickettsial Diseases Laboratory (VRDL), Information Technology Services Division (ITSD), external partners providing IT infrastructure, as well as local health departments (LHDs) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain reliable, efficient, and effective methods for communication with team members and other COVID-19 response teams to understand, track and report on the status of projects and performance measures.
  • Optimize daily operations of Data Processing and Informatics Section ensuring that the daily data flow from laboratory, testing, genome sequencing, and surveillance sources to internal teams and external partners using COVID data are functioning properly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with internal CDPH and external partners in the COVID-19 response to develop project requirements and priorities.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement within the Data Processing and Informatics Section by establishing, regularly reviewing, and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and maintaining awareness of team capacity.
  • Coordinate with COVID-19 response data teams to identify, analyze, and resolve issues in a timely and tactful manner.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify and articulate the strengths and weaknesses of alternative approaches and solutions.
  • Analyze project operations and implement strategies to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Oversee and contribute to special projects related to COVID-19 as identified by the Testing Task Force and Data Processing and Informatics Section leads.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
Qualifications
  • Ability to juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • 5 or more years managing complex projects in a health-related field, preferably in a local, state, or federal government agency
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve project implementation challenges
  • Strong collaboration skills with previous experience in building relationships with diverse stakeholders and responding to competing needs while project success is on track
  • Experience working with schools and school districts a plus
