Modern Animal is on a mission to better the lives of animals by building a place that is better for all of us who love them. We’re looking for an experienced IT Manager to join our team.
The IT Manager - under the supervision of the Head of Product - is responsible for planning, installing, and maintaining the Modern Animal IT infrastructure.
This person will spend part of their time in our clinics throughout the Los Angeles area, but their home base with be at our HQ in Culver City, CA. Travel to other Modern Animal markets will be required as we continue to expand along with availability on nights and weekends as needed to support the team.What the job entails:
- Leading the IT team to change and advance Modern Animal's systems and technology, with a hands-on approach
- Empowering your team to accomplish the organization's large growth goals while being the best in class
- Managing the IT department's operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning and managing projects, and organizing the allocation of resources
- Overseeing the provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services
- Ensuring that development priorities align with the company objectives and that technology plans support company growth, product development, and scalability
- Consulting and collaborating with internal customers, including business managers and employees, to understand business objectives and develop technology solutions that will achieve those objectives
- Benchmarking, analyzing, reporting on, and making recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems
- Developing and implementing methods to standardize, simplify, automate, and continuously improve IT processes, tools, and systems, to optimize service level and control costs
- Managing the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals, medical equipment, and office automation equipment
- Managing financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting, and contract review, and negotiation
- Developing and implementing all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Managing IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions

- 4+ years of IT experience in a multi-unit environment
- A degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience
- Ability to design and troubleshoot complex systems
- Collaborative go-getter, willing to roll up sleeves and be hands-on
- Enthusiasm for thinking outside the box to tackle complex problems
- Set and deliver on targets with ease
- Exceptional organization skills amp; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Operate with high emotional intelligence and exceptional communication skills
- Experience in a medical (or similar) environment
- Must have the ability to travel between local clinics on their own accord
- Willingness to travel to new regions for new clinic openings
- Willingness to share on-call duties with other IT staff
