Job Description

Manage the FPamp;A (Financial Planning amp; Analysis) function for assigned parts of the organization (program areas/departments). Reports directly to the CFO with dotted line responsibility to the Area Directors/Department Heads leading Program Operations or Departments to which assigned.

  • Budgeting and Financial Analysis:
  • Work with regional and departmental leaders (Operations Partners, or OPs) to develop annual or project-specific budgets for review and approval by CORE Senior Leadership (CSL)
  • Develop appropriate Excel financial models, based on inputs from CORE OPs and/or contractual terms and conditions, that are consistent with the organization’s financial reporting structure and efforts to establish consistency and standard work. These models are intended to guide operational decisions and to facilitate invoicing and reporting needs of external/contracting parties
  • Review and test key budget assumptions; analyze sensitivities to changes in these assumptions
  • Work with OPs and CORE’s accounting team to ensure the integrity of information and data entered into CORE’s financial system (QuickBooks)
  • Provide monthly reporting packages for OPs and CSLs that analyze important budget to actual variances (BVA) as well as variances from one reporting period to another; where appropriate, recommend countermeasures/operating changes to improve results
  • Provides significant input, review and validation of information incorporated into CORE’s bi-weekly 16-week cash flow forecast

  • Contract Support:
  • Review and facilitate appropriate approval of all funding contracts entered into at the regional/departmental level; provide OPs with financial assessment and recommendations related to all funding arrangements, grants, MOUs partnership agreements and other significant contracts
  • Create proposal/RFP template(s), as appropriate, in Excel for financial components/budgets or business case
  • Provide necessary supporting data
  • Propose billing/reporting framework

  • Work with OPs to establish workable procedures and internal controls to support:
  • Compliance with all CORE Policies as well as legal and regulatory requirements
  • Delivery of accurate and timely regional/departmental accounting (with adequate supporting documentation) to HQ

  • Accurate classification of all regional/departmental expenditures, including:
  • Expense reports for personal credit card usage
  • Corporate purchasing card/credit card usage
  • Purchase orders, as required, for all goods or services excess of $5,000
  • Accurate classification and account coding of all regional/departmental revenues
  • Accurate allocation of general and administrative costs to proper projects, grants or other contracts, as required

  • Data accuracy in the ADP Workforce Now employee master file and QB with respect to all regional/departmental employees:
  • Correct classification/coding of new and redeployed employees
  • Adjustments or updates needed to reflect terminations, changes in status or other data

  • Provide ad hoc assistance with financial analysis to facilitate operating decisions, such as:
  • Outsourcing versus insourcing
  • Lease versus purchase
  • New activity or venture, e.g., E-commerce website

  • Serve as a liaison between OPs and HQ for all other Finance amp; Accounting matters and as a support contact for coordination with IT, HR and Supply Chain (Procurement amp; Logs) as necessary
Special Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in accounting and FPamp;A roles, including as Senior Manager or Director in a $100M+ organization
  • Non-profit and grant reporting experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced level Excel skills required (Pivot Tables, Advanced Formulas, Charting)
  • Undergraduate degree with a concentration in accounting, finance or computer science (required).
  • CPA and/or MBA a plus
  • Experience in complex multinational organization(s) required
