Job Description

The Intern System Network Engineer / SysAdmin is responsible for supporting implementation, maintenance, upgrade software and hardware, help with the resolution of Tier 1 helpdesk tickets and basic Network monitoring. Intern Network Engineers will work with under the guidance of Junior and Middle Engineers and are expected to continuously grow their technical skills and stay up to date with technology trends related to their position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Installing and setting up the operating systems for the users, as well as monitoring, resolving issues, and evaluating existing and new operating systems.

2. Available on-call to assist with Tier 1 helpdesk tickets as needed.

3. Integrating the users’ workstations, including the MAC workstations, with the operating systems in place.

4. Allocating resources such as peripherals (monitors, headsets, USB Hubs) in a correct and justified manner.

5. Identify and report user issues, trends and propose solutions to these situations.

• Communicate to each affected user’s superior if any of the identified user’s issue(s) prevent the user from performing their task.

6. Directing the efforts of technicians to diagnose and correct system-related faults and carry out system management activities.

7. Performing proactive and corrective maintenance on the devices.

8. Other tasks assigned by the Senior Ops Engineers.

9. Reading and understanding documentation, analyzing simple diagrams and getting into context fast escalating unclear areas.

10. Participating in effort estimations.

Requirements

Certification or University degree preferably in Computer Science (or equivalent) or relevant certification finished or in progress.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
  • Base knowledge on servers, particularly Windows server/Linux
  • Properly install operating systems, Windows, Linux and MacOs. Additionally, when required, knowledge on how to double boot Windows-Ubuntu.
  • Identify user issues, classify said issues by complexity and priority.
  • Quickly identify issues related to drivers, sound selection, and screen projection.
  • Properly set up the workstations in accordance with the instructions given by the superior, as well as in accordance with the policies regarding the position of new employees.
  • Properly allocating resources such as peripherals, AA and AAA batteries, USB cords, charging cords, and computer bases.
  • Identify the issues that require help from a superior.
  • Having generated useful documentation for the company’s employees, in order to ease the use of tech tools such as printers, IP phones, Microsoft Teams, projectors, and sites such as HelpDesk.
  • Know how to and conduct onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Understand how the IP phones of the company work, and how they’re used to make calls to United States/Europe.
  • Know how to do previous and corrective maintenance on devices.
  • Increase the RAM memory on devices, from requesting the right RAM memory to installing and verifying.
  • Helpdesk: Effectively handle Helpdesk requests from company staff and customers according to HelpDesk Policy. Provide prompt and accurate feedbacks to company staff and customers. Ask targeted questions to quickly understand the root cause of the problem. Follow up with requestor to ensure their requests are fully resolved. Be available via instant text messengers, email, phone during the shift. Take ownership/responsibility of requestor’s issues and work through the required process to resolution
  • Know when to reload the tonner on the printer, its correct administration and usage.
  • Base knowledge on TCP/IP protocol model, Firewall and Ports.
  • Basic knowledge of routing/networking devices knows what is a router, switch, hub, access point and others.
  • Base knowledge on Virtualization as VirtualBox, VMWare or Hyper-V
