Job Description

The Director of Production is responsible for managing vendor activities and maintaining both new and existing vendor relationships. The role will manage all aspects of new and current vendor relations, mader-to-order and in stock jewelry vendor contracts, scorecards and expansion. Management of day to day production processes and systems implementation to maintain the highest level of quality and accuracy.Responsibilities:
  • Research and procurement of new high end manufacturing vendors, bulk jewelry items/vendors and made-to-order jewelry.
  • Vetting of potential new manufacturers and vendors for ethical practices, quality, price point, and timing of delivery.
  • Collaborate with vendor’s CAD designers, setters, and polishers on all technical aspects of manufacturing of our jewelry pieces.
  • Collaborate with Business Operations in the implementation and maintenance of new automation and processes; focused on increasing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Full understanding and ability to troubleshoot systems surrounding the production team.
  • Verifying quantity and pricing of orders received against purchase orders and working with vendors and accounting to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Manage sample development plans, timing, and requests to ensure complete synergy between teams as well as budget adherence.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Customer service, merchandising and marketing on vendor issues, to collect feedback and work on improvements with vendors
  • Responsible for metrics and vendor performance KPIs
  • Perform Vendor audits and reviews, site visits, counts and process optimizations periodically
  • Negotiate program pricing and delivery and take a forward thinking approach to pricing, offering cost competitive alternatives.
  • Manage the end to end vendor relationship, review and refresh contracts, quality issues and resolution
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years in high-end/luxury jewelry manufacturing vendor management, made-to-order and stock production.
  • Knowledge of fine jewelry manufacturing techniques and practices
  • Experience with systems and automation implementation.
  • Deadline focused and highly organized; Not fazed by complexity, multiple timelines, and competing priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to react quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience developing, implementing and communicating new processes and tools
  • Experience with Excel and Netsuite ERP or similar.
  • PLM experience a plus
  • Some travel expected
