About the roleWe are looking for a person to lead ADDI’s legal function in Brazil as we launch and grow our local operation. Support our in-house legal team, becoming a trusted partner to the global General Counsel and the Country Manager as we keep growing our technology and POS/BNPL lending business in LatAm. Assure we develop our business in a compliant manner, especially in light of applicable financial, corporate and personal data and consumer protection regulations. Support and enable product development processes balancing innovation with legal compliance. Serve as a key partner to different Company areas to ensure we conduct our business in Brazil a safe and sound manner.

Outcomes

• Worked with the General Counsel and the BR General Manager to develop a responsive, innovative legal department in Brazil, adequately balancing value protection with value creation;
• Supported product, sales and operations teams ensuring new product, operations, and sales initiatives followed our strict legal and compliance standards, while allowing for innovation.
• Following the General Manager’s and General Counsel’s guidelines, served as liaison between ADDI and relevant regulatory authorities (e.g., the central bank);
• Successfully executed recurring legal matters, including: (1) Contract review, negotiation and documentation; (2) Escalated complaints review and response especially in the fields of consumer and personal data protection; and (3)
• Compliance with corporate obligations;
• Management of (legal) relationships with key partners, vendors and clients.
• Supported fundraising and capital markets activities in Brazil;
• Managed outside legal counsel relationships in Brazil, ensuring adequate cost-benefit analysis and insourcing functions as appropriate;
• Develop internal legal risk mapping and management;Interact and represent the company in union's or other related labor duties.
• Support the country manager in business and operations decisions.

Competencies

• 5+ years’ experience at a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Demonstrated experience in regulated environments (especially in fintech or financial institutions);
• Knowledge of Brazilian financial regulations.
• Experience in contract drafting and negotiation.
• Experience in consumer and personal data protection matters is highly desirable.
• Experience in capital markets/financing transactions is desirable.
• LL.M. from a US university preferred.
• Deep curiosity and desire to learn more about Technology and Finance.
• Full English proficiency is a must.
