We’re looking for world class product leaders who share our vision for a more curious and rational world and can evangelize our vision internally and externally. As part of the product team at Alation, you will be working to unlock the value of data: help people to find, understand and trust data that they already have.In this particular role, you will increase the effectiveness of the entire product team by:
  • Introducing and shepherding best practices and associated tools
  • Gathering and organizing the most important product metrics
  • Streamlining cross-department communication with new workflows
Here are some examples of projects you might take on:
  • Orchestrate annual strategic planning and quarterly roadmap update processes
  • Manage quarterly release processes
  • Overhaul how customer enhancement requests are captured, reviewed and tracked
  • Lead the successful rollout of a new product tracking tool
  • Create product metrics dashboards to understand how we’re doing as a product organization and with our users.
  • Survey the organization to understand steps we might take to promote continued innovation

In this role you will
  • Manage the product tech stack, establish internal best practices, and ensure team members are using tools effectively
  • Collect, organize, and analyze quantitative and qualitative product data, enabling the entire organization to make the most of these insights
  • Foster cross-departmental collaboration around the product
  • Streamline communication across departments without losing team autonomy. Roll out new processes when needed, but keep processes simple and eliminate extra steps.
  • Develop business processes to streamline product development
To do so, you’ll leverage
  • 4+ years of experience in product operations, product management, or an operational role that worked closely with product and engineering teams in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Attributes of a self-starter, with strong creative problem solving, project management, detail orientation, and interpersonal skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to bring cross-departmental teams together, with smoother, more efficient communication and workflow than before.

  • You're humble and thoughtful, but a vocal advocate for our users and customers and able to fight for the course of action that the data and our values show is right
  • You’re excited to wrangle revenue inputs from finance, win/loss/churn stats from sales, and feedback from customer support.
  • You have some experience analyzing data with SQL or excel and ready to go deeper.
  • You have experience using (or even deploying and configuring) product and cross-department productivity tools such as JIRA and Aha.
  • You’re excited by the prospect of helping a growing product team formalize their internal processes and use metrics to help them make better product decisions.
