Color is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Essential Care software engineering team. This team is responsible for delivering the company’s Cardiometabolic and Cancer Prevention and Screening programs. Engineers at Color work across the stack, building and operating the backend endpoints and frontend components to iterate on these programs and own the experience end-to-end. Having partnered with the American Cancer Society to launch one of the first dedicated cancer prevention and screening programs in 2023, the Essential Care team is laser-focused on building the best consumer-quality user experiences. We assess cancer risk amp; adherence, connect people with in-person screenings, and build high-quality interfaces and data models to power a rich experience that can deliver life-saving information.How You'll Contribute:
  • Develop, coach, and mentor engineers on the team, while also organizing and delivering regular feedback
  • Seek opportunities to increase reliability and optimize maintainability of the systems and services you manage
  • Manage internal team processes to help the team operate smoothly, adapt quickly and interface effectively with the rest of Color
  • Develop and influence product roadmaps by collaborating with product, design and engineering
  • Work with your product peer to navigate a dynamic environment, ensuring your team is focused on high priority, high leverage work
  • Develop and evolve the long term vision for the team and identify future opportunities and staffing needs for the team
  • Partner with Recruiting and senior leaders to implement and execute hiring strategyInspire and motivate the team by understanding the company’s mission and goals and connecting how the team’s work aligns with and impacts these things
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • 5+ years of industry experience as a software engineer (or equivalent role)
  • 3+ years of industry experience managing software engineers
  • You've launched consumer-facing features or products successfully and iterated to incorporate user feedback
  • You are passionate about helping engineers grow their careers and are skilled at delivering positive and constructive feedback
  • You understand optimizing a team for adaptability and experimentation
  • You have a track record of building and leading high performing, cohesive teams
  • You effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical collaborators
  • You’re familiar with our tech stack including Python, Django, AWS, SQL, REST APIs, React, HTML5, CSS3, and ES6+
Possible Projects to Contribute to:
  • Develop new ways to connect people with in-person cancer screenings
  • Create intuitive risk assessments for specific types of cancer
  • Evolve our cardiometabolic screening experience to use a unified survey amp; rules platform
  • Launch a myriad of user-facing growth experiments to help vital cancer risk information resonate with those who can benefit from it the most
  • Improve the clarity and transparency of our risk assessment decisions

Base Salary Range: $190,000 - $250,000 per year
The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: work experience, market data, skills, geographic location, and business need. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits.
